Almost all nurseries use an online system which records child observations and tracks their development. Here at Cambridge Day Nursery, we too use a system called Famly. Famly allows communications directly to parents via instant messenger, incorporating photos and immediate updates. It is a multi-purpose platform that contains a variety of Invoices, bookings, extra session, daily progress, and tracks and records your child’s development.

When we first introduced Famly, we used it for everything. this included learning journeys, observations, and accident reports but we retain hand -written journey experiences , which provide great long term  family treasure. Although technology is a thing of modern-day life, parents value the keepsake of handwritten learning journeys, whereas an online document can be so easily lost and unretrievable. We support written learning journeys which included photos and observations about your child. This can be taken home at a weekend and shared with family or grandparents. Parents are  encouraged to make additions. However, when a child reaches Pre-School, the learning journeys return to the digital system on Famly.

Famly allows the Pre-School children to sign themselves in when they arrive in the morning. In the younger rooms, staff will sign children in and out. As parents you receive notifications during the day if your child has gone for a walk or has fallen to sleep. There is a platform for the Nursery formal policies to be posted. The manager posts a fortnightly update on a Friday morning, updating everyone on events, current affairs, and forthcoming week events.

Once your child has completed their three settling in periods, login details are provided to parents to create their own account, including grandparents on the login so that they too can share in a child’s activity and progress in nursery.

Confidentiality between the Nursery and parents is essential and provided by this platform.
